Why it works

  • One page in all six layouts262 words, so switching designs never pushes it to a second page.
  • 6 of 10 bullets name a resultThe rest show the scale of the work, which a recruiter reads as proof too. Counted by the same Review the Studio runs.
  • Headings an ATS already knowsSummary, Experience, Education, Certifications, Skills, in that order.
  • The credential has its own lineAWS Certified Machine Learning (Specialty), each with issuer and year.

SUMMARY

Machine learning engineer with seven years taking ranking, NLP and LLM models from prototype to production in PyTorch on AWS. Builds the MLOps pipelines that keep models fast, monitored and affordable.

EXPERIENCE
Senior Machine Learning Engineer
2022 – Present
Brightcart Marketplace · Manchester, UK
  • Own the search ranking model serving 30M predictions a day at 40ms p95 on Kubernetes, which lifted search conversion 6% in an A/B test.
  • Run training and deployment pipelines in Kubeflow and MLflow, so models retrain weekly instead of each quarter.
  • Cut GPU inference cost by 48% with ONNX export, quantisation and request batching on Triton.
  • Monitor 9 models for data drift, catching two silent failures before customers did.
Machine Learning Engineer
2019 – 2022
Northwind Support Cloud · Leeds, UK
  • Deployed an NLP ticket classifier in PyTorch and Hugging Face that routes 80,000 support tickets a month.
  • Shipped an LLM retrieval assistant for support agents, with an evaluation set of 1,200 real questions.
  • Moved 12 models from notebooks to SageMaker endpoints with CI/CD and unit tests.
Software Engineer
2017 – 2019
Ledgerline Software · Leeds, UK
  • Built Python REST APIs for a billing platform used by 4,000 small businesses.
  • Wrote Spark jobs that cleaned 3 years of invoice data for the first fraud model.
  • Reduced API error rates by 60% after adding integration tests and alerts.
EDUCATION
MSc Advanced Computer Science
2016 – 2017
University of Manchester · Manchester, UK
CERTIFICATIONS
AWS Certified Machine Learning (Specialty), Amazon Web Services

SKILLS
ML: PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LLMs, NLP, ranking
MLOps: Kubeflow, MLflow, feature store, model monitoring, Airflow
Infrastructure: Python, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS SageMaker, Spark

Wide margins and no rules. Typewriter-style name, headings and dates over a plain sans body. Switching layouts never changes the words.

A machine learning engineer is hired to get models into production and keep them there. Resumes that read like a research paper, all architectures and accuracy, miss what the hiring manager is screening for: serving latency, scale, reliability and cost. The template above leads with those, and the score on this page is the actual output of the Review.

Skills and keywords for a machine learning engineer resume

Applicant tracking systems match on literal strings. Spell each term the way the job posting spells it, and group related skills so people and parsers can both follow it.

Have the real job posting? Paste it into the keyword scanner to see the skills it asks for most, and which ones your resume is missing.

Why each choice was made

  1. Why latency sits next to accuracy

A more accurate model that is too slow to serve doesn't ship. Showing both in one bullet tells the reviewer you make the trade-off an ML engineer is paid to make.

  2. Why the LLM work is specific

Almost every ML resume now mentions large language models. Saying what you built (retrieval for support answers, an evaluation set, fine-tuning a small model) and what it changed separates real work from a keyword.

  3. Why the first job is software engineering

Many ML engineers came from backend engineering. Keeping that role shows the production habits behind the ML work: testing, APIs, on-call. It earns its place in two or three bullets.

Machine learning engineer resume questions

What skills should I put on a machine learning engineer resume?

The skills the job posting names, spelled the way it spells them. For a machine learning engineer that often includes machine learning, deep learning, MLOps, model deployment, Python and Docker. Show each one in a bullet with a result, then list the core ones again in a short skills section.

How do I write a machine learning engineer resume summary?

Keep it to two or three sentences: your years of experience and where, the scale of your work, and one result with a number. Leave out words a recruiter cannot check, like hardworking or passionate. The example summary on this page shows the pattern.

Is this machine learning engineer resume template free?

Yes. Open it in the Studio, replace the example with your own work and download it as a PDF in a free design (Clean, Signal, Editorial and Minimal). Word files and the other designs come with ATSPrep Pro. There is no watermark; downloading needs a free account.

Is this machine learning engineer resume template ATS friendly?

Yes. It is one column of real text with standard section headings, and no tables, text boxes or text inside images, so parsers read it in order. Run your finished file through the free ATS resume checker to see the text it gives back.

Keep the pattern. Tell your story.

The Studio opens with this machine learning engineer example loaded. Edit any bullet and the Review score updates as you type. Editing needs no account; downloading needs a free one.

  1. Keep the hierarchy. Same section order, plain-text contact details.
  2. Replace every claim. Your scope, your numbers, your tools. Never borrowed achievements.
  3. Run the Review again. Watch the score respond to the evidence in your version.
