Interview question practice

Answer out loud, against the clock, then check what you said.

Adds questions about the skills it asks for most.

Both boxes are optional. What you paste stays in this browser tab.

Why use it

Practice that feels like the real thing.

  • Questions for this job

Paste a posting and your resume to add questions about the skills it stresses and the lines you wrote.

  • Against the clock

A timer shows whether each spoken answer lands in the one to two minutes most interviewers expect.

  • Hear yourself back

Record an answer if you like. It stays in this tab and shows talk time and long pauses.

Where do the questions come from?

There's a fixed list of common, behavioural, role and closing questions that most interviewers draw on. Paste a job posting and it adds questions about the skills that posting asks for most. Paste your resume and it adds “walk me through this” questions about your own lines, because anything on your resume is fair game.

How long should an interview answer be?

For most questions, one to two minutes spoken. Under a minute often leaves out what you did or how it ended; much over two and the interviewer starts to lose the thread. The timer shows where you land against that band. Short factual questions, like when you could start, can be a sentence.

What is the STAR method?

Situation, Task, Action, Result: a way to tell a work story so it has a point. Set the scene in a sentence or two, say what you had to do, spend most of the answer on what you did yourself, then say what changed. The STAR notes under each question help you plan it before you say it out loud.

Can I record my answers and play them back?

Yes, if you want to. Press Record my answer and your browser asks for the microphone (and the camera, if you tick it). The recording stays in this browser tab: it isn't uploaded, and it's gone when you leave the page unless you download it. The replay shows how long each answer ran, how much of it was talking versus silence, and any pauses over three seconds, worked out from the microphone's volume.

Does it score my answers?

No. A score from a timer, a volume meter and three ticks wouldn't be honest, and nothing listens to the words you say. You answer out loud, time yourself and tick what your answer did. The recap at the end shows how long your answers ran and which checks you missed most.

Is what I paste uploaded or saved?

No. The questions are built in your browser. Your posting, resume, STAR notes and recordings aren't sent to ATSPrep or anyone else, and they're gone when you leave the page.
