The actual difference
They help you write it. This shows you what a parser gets.
Nearly every tool in this category is a builder or a scorer. A builder gives you a template and generates wording. A scorer reads your file, compares it against a job description or a rubric, and hands back a number with advice attached. Both are useful, and both leave the same question unanswered: when a machine actually opens this file, what does it come out with?
That is the question ATSPrep answers, at both ends. Import an existing PDF and it runs your actual file through a PDF text extractor, then reports what came back: whether there is a real text layer, whether the layout resolved to one column or two, whether your email and phone survived. Export from here and the pre-export X-Ray reads the generated file back the same way and diffs it against what you typed. Either way you read the machine’s output rather than a score standing in for it.
The other structural difference is the front door. Every product on this page needs an account before it does anything. ATSPrep does not: the parse, the 6 ATS profiles and the export all run without a signup, and your file is read in the browser rather than uploaded to us.

Server-side processing is not a criticism. It is what makes accounts, saved versions and cross-device editing possible — those products could not work any other way. It is a different trade, and worth knowing you are making it.

Comparison pages love a pricing table, and they are almost always out of date. Every product here runs promotions, regional pricing, trials that convert at a different rate, and plan names that change between visits. Several render their pricing entirely in JavaScript or block automated checks, so a figure written into this page could not be verified when it was written and could not be re-checked later.
Quoting a competitor's price wrongly is the easiest way to make a page like this untrustworthy, and it tends to go wrong in the flattering direction. So each product below links to its own live pricing page instead. That link stays right; a number would not. ATSPrep is free, which is the only price here we can keep accurate.

What it does better than ATSPrep
Making a resume look designed. Enhancv's templates are far more visual than anything ATSPrep exports — though visual layout is also the thing most likely to confuse a parser, which is the trade-off the rest of this site is about.
Everything above about another company comes from that company's own pages, linked beside it, and is quoted where they state it directly. Where a vendor does not publish something, it is left out rather than guessed at. If we have described your product wrongly, tell us and we will correct it.

When you should use one of them instead
If you have no resume yet and need words on a page, a generator will get you further in an hour than this will. If you are tracking dozens of applications and losing track of which version went where, a job tracker solves a real problem ATSPrep does not touch. If your field expects a visually designed document, a design-led builder is the right tool — accept the parsing trade knowingly and check the result here afterwards.
ATSPrep is for the step after all of those. You have a file. You are about to send it. Before you do, you want to see what a parser pulls out of it, and you would rather not create another account to find out. That is the whole product, and it is free because it costs almost nothing to run — the parsing happens on your machine.
