Questions about LinkedIn About sections.

How much of my About section shows before “see more”?

Roughly the first 200 characters on a phone and 300 on a computer. LinkedIn cuts by width rather than an exact count, so it varies with the screen, and starting a new paragraph early means less shows. The checker's preview estimates where your own text gets cut.

How long can a LinkedIn About section be?

Up to 2,600 characters, including spaces. LinkedIn won't take a longer one. You don't need to fill it: a few short paragraphs with what you do, a result or two, your main skills and a closing line is plenty.

Should I write my About section in first or third person?

First person, for almost everyone. “I help clinics run payroll” sounds like someone you could message. “Sam is a payroll specialist” reads like a bio someone else wrote. The checker points it out when yours reads as if it was written about you.

What should I put at the end of my About section?

A next step: what you're open to and how to reach you, in a line or two. “Open to senior analyst roles on pricing teams. Message me here.” gives a recruiter something to act on. “Seeking new opportunities” doesn't say which ones.

Is what I paste saved or sent anywhere? Does it use AI?

Nothing is uploaded, and there's no AI. The checks are fixed rules that run in your browser, and what you paste stays in this tab until you close it.
