Your numbers
These are example numbers, so you can see how it works.
The other 7 show as “Still waiting”.
Interview steps, in order
Count everyone who reached each step, including those who went further.
Track it automatically
Counting by hand gets old. Add each job to the free job tracker as you apply, and its “Your job hunt” tab draws this chart from your real applications, with your response rate and time to first reply. It stays in your browser, like this page.
How to make one in three steps.
You don't need exact numbers. A careful count from your inbox or spreadsheet is plenty for a chart that tells the story.
Count where each application ended
Go through your inbox or tracking sheet and note the furthest step each job reached: no reply, a rejection, a phone screen, an interview, an offer.
Type the totals
Start with how many you applied to, then the ones that never replied and the ones rejected straight away. Add each interview step in order. Anything left over shows as still waiting.
Download it and post it
Pick portrait for Reddit and Instagram, or landscape for LinkedIn and X. The image has your chart, three key numbers and a small atsprep.com line.
Paste SankeyMATIC lines as they are.
Many of the job search charts on Reddit are made with SankeyMATIC, a free diagram builder. Its format is one flow per line: where the applications came from, how many in square brackets, and where they went.
Paste those lines into Paste lines above and they draw here in the site's blue. Comments, colour codes and the settings block are skipped, and a name used twice becomes one bar, as it does in SankeyMATIC. Typed your numbers instead? Open Paste lines to copy them out in the same format.
ATSPrep isn't connected to SankeyMATIC. This page reads the same format.

What is a job search Sankey diagram?
A flow chart of your job hunt. All your applications start as one bar on the left and split as they go: some never get a reply, some are rejected, some reach an interview and a few end in an offer. The width of each band is the number of applications, so you can see where most of them stopped.
How do I make a Sankey diagram of my job applications?
Type how many jobs you applied to, how many never replied and how many were rejected straight away. Then add each interview step in order with how many reached it, and your offers. The chart redraws as you type. When it looks right, download it as a PNG.
Can I use my SankeyMATIC code?
Yes. Choose Paste lines and paste lines in the Source [amount] Target format. Comments, colours and the settings block are skipped. It works the other way too: type your numbers, then open Paste lines to copy them out as SankeyMATIC lines.
Is it free and private?
Yes. There's no sign-up and nothing to pay. The chart and the image are made in your browser, and nothing you type is uploaded or stored. The image has a small “Made with atsprep.com” line at the bottom.
What size is the image?
Portrait is 1080 × 1350 pixels, a tall shape that reads well on phones, Reddit and Instagram. Landscape is 1200 × 630, a wide shape for LinkedIn and X.
How do I keep the chart up to date?
Add each job to the free job tracker as you apply. Its “Your job hunt” tab draws the same kind of chart from your real applications, with your response rate and how long replies take. Your jobs stay in your browser.
