Scored by the same rules the Studio uses. How scoring works
Why it works
- One page in all six layouts293 words, so switching designs never pushes it to a second page.
- 4 of 9 bullets name a resultThe rest show the scale of the work, which a recruiter reads as proof too. Counted by the same Review the Studio runs.

- Reads back as plain textOne column with no tables or icons. The ATS text tab shows what a parser gets.
Cashier with five years in supermarket and pharmacy checkouts in Nairobi. Handles cash, card and M-Pesa payments on a busy till and balances the drawer at the end of each shift.
- Process about 350 transactions a shift across cash, card and M-Pesa on the POS, keeping till variances under KES 200 for the past two years.
- Balance the till and complete the cash-up at the end of each shift, with safe drops every two hours at peak times.
- Spot counterfeit notes with a UV checker and flag them to the supervisor; caught 11 fake KES 1,000 notes last year.
- Train about eight new cashiers a year on the POS, refunds and voids, so each one runs a till alone by the end of week two.
- Served about 180 customers a day at the counter, handling cash, card and insurance co-payments.
- Matched M-Pesa till statements against the POS every evening, cutting unmatched payments from about 15 a week to three.
- Processed about 25 refunds and exchanges a week within store policy, logging each void so the manager could sign it off in minutes.
- Scanned and bagged about 250 customers' shopping a weekend shift on the express lane, running price checks and loyalty card points.
- Checked customer ID for alcohol and other age-restricted items, keeping the store clear of licence warnings in two county inspections.

Cashier resumes are read for one thing first: can this person be trusted with the till. A screener looks for cash handling, balancing at close, transactions per shift, the POS and payment types used, and how refunds, voids and fake notes were handled. This example says all of that with numbers a store manager would recognise.

Why most cashiers don't get the call
Cash accuracy and till balancing
Balancing the till at the end of every shift, small or no variances and safe drops on time are what a store manager checks first. Say how often and how close.
Speed at the checkout
Customers or transactions a shift and the length of the queue you handled show whether you can hold a busy lane at peak times without mistakes.
POS and payment types
Name the POS system and every payment you take: cash, card, contactless, vouchers, and mobile money such as M-Pesa or UPI where it applies.
Refunds, voids and fraud checks
Refunds within policy, manager overrides, ID checks for age-restricted items and spotting counterfeit notes show you protect the store's money as well as serve.

Why each choice was made
Why the till balance is in the first bullet
Trust with money is the main screen for a cashier. A count of shifts balanced and the size of any variance is stronger proof than calling yourself honest.
Why mobile money sits beside card
In Kenya, India and much of the Gulf, a large share of payments are M-Pesa, UPI or wallet transfers. Listing them shows you can reconcile every payment the store takes.
Why this is not a retail sales resume
The bullets stay at the checkout: transactions, payments, refunds and the cash-up. Floor selling, displays and stock targets belong on a retail sales associate resume.
Cashier resume questions
What skills should I put on a cashier resume?
The skills the job posting names, spelled the way it spells them. For a cashier that often includes cash handling, till balancing, POS, point of sale, customer service and checkout. Show each one in a bullet with a result, then list the core ones again in a short skills section.
How do I write a cashier resume summary?
Keep it to two or three sentences: your years of experience and where, the scale of your work, and one result with a number. Leave out words a recruiter cannot check, like hardworking or passionate. The example summary on this page shows the pattern.
Is this cashier resume template free?
Yes. Open it in the Studio, replace the example with your own work and download it as a PDF in a free design (Clean, Signal, Editorial and Minimal). Word files and the other designs come with ATSPrep Pro. There is no watermark; downloading needs a free account.
Is this cashier resume template ATS friendly?
Yes. It is one column of real text with standard section headings, and no tables, text boxes or text inside images, so parsers read it in order. Run your finished file through the free ATS resume checker to see the text it gives back.
